Fishing Equipment

Caye Caulker is abundant in various fish species! We provide all your equipment for fly fishing for bonefish, permit, snook and tarpon.

Fishing for Tarpon

For big fish 50 lbs. and up a 11 or 12 weight fly rod with floating or ghost tip fly line tippit with 20 or 25 lbs. tapered with bite tip 30 to 80 lb. for the flies we use. Flies include; toads, black deaths, cockroach the colors we recommend black and purple, olive or brown grisly. The hook size we recommend these sizes 2/0, 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0 circle hooks. Spin fishing gears for tarpon the rod size we recommend a 20 to 40 line weight rod with 30 to 50lb line with a 5000 size reel.

Fishing for Permit

We recommend a 9 to 10 weight fly rod with floating line tippit and 15 to 20 pound tapered bite tip. The flies we use crabs, mantis shrimps, spawning shrimp, avalon flies. The colors we use are olive, brown, tan and tan with some purple. We recommend 3/0 and 4/0 Spinning rods. We use rod size 15 to 25 line weight rod with 20 to 30 pound test line with a 3000 size reel.

Fishing for Bonefish

We recommend a 7 to 8 weight fly rod with floating fly line with floating tippit and 10 to 15 pound bite line. The flies we use are crazy charlie, spawning shrimp and crab flies. Colors we recommend are olive, brown, tan and white. We recommend 1/0 and 2/0 hook size. Spin fishing gear we use a 10 to 20 pound line weight rod with 15 to 20 pound line with a 1500 size reel.

Inshore Fishing

We recommend 3/0 and 4/0 Spinning rods. We use rod size 15 to 25 line weight rod with 20 to 30 pound test line with a 3000 size reel.

Offshore Fishing

We recommend spin fishing gear with 20 to 40 line weight rod with 30 to 50lb line with a 5000 size reel. The hook sizes we recommend these sizes 2/0, 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0 circle hooks. Deep drop rods with 900 to 1000 feet of 50 pound braid and 150 pound mono leaders.
